29 May 2018, Sonic Arts Research Centre, Queen’s University Belfast
This workshop took place as part of the Development Weeks Program at Queen’s University Belfast, and was led together by Dr.John D’Arcy and Dr. Zeynep Bulut.
Employing Map a Voice guidelines, Workshop 3 explored how sounds interact with architectural and environmental space and how disruption and distortion of amplification technologies could shape individual experiences with voice. Using smart phones and headphones, participants probed speech with simulations of different ways of hearing. The simulations were generated by different effects such as pass through (from microphone to headphone), microphone-mute, multiple band, and vocoder.
